内容記述 | We conducted a survey to investigate “How do students studying early childhood education hold chopsticks?: The way of holding and awareness regarding chopsticks”, and clarified the following: (1) Approximately 70 and 30% of the total subjects (students studying early childhood education + students studying other disciplines) held chopsticks in traditional and non-traditional manners, respectively. This situation has not changed for the past 10 years. (2) More than 90% of students who held chopsticks in a traditional manner responded that they learned the way of holding them from their family, showing the importance of cooperating with the family to establish favorable lifestyle habits. (3) Sixty-percent of students who held chopsticks in a non-traditional manner showed a “wish to correct their way of holding chopsticks”. The number of students with this wish was higher among those studying early childhood education than those studying other disciplines. This result was marked among 2nd compared with 1st year students. (4) As reasons for “wishing to correct the way of holding chopsticks”, many 1st year students responded “for my own sake”; however, 2nd year students responded “to be a role model for children after becoming a nursery teacher” and “to teach children”, revealing that they wished to correct their way of using chopsticks for the purpose of teaching favorable lifestyle habits to children in the future. Conventionally, nursery teachers cooperate with the family to help children acquire favorable lifestyle habits, such as holding chopsticks in the correct way. However, since students who hold chopsticks in a non-traditional manner cannot teach the traditional way to their students, many of them wished to “correct their way of holding chopsticks”. Such willingness was brought about by their experience of early childhood education and nursery training practice they had received in the course. It is important to instruct students studying early childhood education on the correct way of holding chopsticks through “child health” lectures. |
